A sustainable office fit-out that unifies the tenancy and fosters a dynamic and collaborative work culture.
The AECOM Brisbane workplace brings together nine separately located business units into one office in the Leighton Properties HQ development, also designed by BVN. The workplace accommodates 850 staff across five floors and is designed to physically and culturally unify the business.
Principles such as promoting the company’s core values, fostering a client-focused culture, innovation, agility, diversity, collaboration and harnessing sustainable opportunities were key drivers for the design.
The new workplace design creates large voids through the existing floorplates and an interconnecting stair links all levels through these voids to create a dynamic common space and provide a sense of connectivity and transparency. A variety of formal and informal work spaces provides a flexible, collaborative working environment.
Demonstrating AECOM’s commitment to sustainability, the design supports the initiatives of the client’s green office policy and uses sustainable building methods and materials in an effort to avoid a ‘tick box’ approach to Green Star rating. Significantly, all the timber in the fit-out is 100% post consumer recycled Australian Blackbutt and the ventilation system provides 50% more fresh air than the average commercial building.
Working in partnership with the client, with maximum stakeholder consultation, the project appropriately reflects the organisation’s aspirations, creating a unique place proudly owned by the people of AECOM.
